Jammin' with JOI provides students with fun, relaxed, and supportive free summer program.

Students from middle through high school join seasoned professional mentors to study and explore jazz language and play with them and other students from across Southern Nevada in a fun, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere.
Students do not have to register, can come any time, and are welcome to bring friends. They do not have to be members of Jazz Outreach Initiative's other programs, and all abilities are welcome. 

Students will be taught one jazz standard a week at the beginning of the jam session.
After that, the rest of the session is a traditional jam session with the students calling their own songs. The session will always be run by a JOI mentor and there will always be a rhythm section (piano, bass, drums) comprised of JOI mentors there. If a student rhythm player is present, the JOI mentor will slide off the chair, become a mentor, and allow the student to perform. Students will learn jam session etiquette and interact with each other.
