Wound Management
Acute and chronic wounds occur due to many different factors including but not limited to: Trauma, surgical, diabetes, arterial/venous insufficiency, cancer, moisture, and pressure ulcers. Left untreated, these wounds can become infected or progress leading to sepsis, amputation, or even death. Wounds and pressure ulcers increase hospital stays by 3 to 5 times.
This program is offered to any health care professionals and patient care takers. Participants will be instructed on assessing risk factors, wound assessment, measurements and accurate documentation. Staging of pressure ulcers will include the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) guidelines, wound healing cascade, and universal principle of wound management. The participant will be provided with valuable, cutting-edge information to enhance everyday skin and wound care practice with hands-on demonstration using wound care models.
