Please read:  The Casino Dealing Open Lab Instruction course will be instructed in the Gaming Laboratory at the College of Southern Nevada North Las Vegas Campus. The specific location is as follows: College of Southern Nevada North Las Vegas Campus 3200 East Cheyenne Avenue North Las Vegas, Nevada 89030 Building C, Room 1666. Electronic Assessments: Each game will consist of a series of timed electronic assessments that must be completed in the gaming laboratory, and proctored by the Instructor. The student is able to take the electronic assessments unlimited times until proficiency is achieved. No outside material may be used during electronic assessments, to include calculators. The student must score at least 80% on each electronic assessment for successful game completion. Electronic assessments evaluate skills applicable to computational speed and accuracy, procedural sequencing, and game rules. Because electronic assessments are based on game complexity, they vary in quantity from game to game. Applied Competencies: Applied Competencies evaluate skills applicable to manual dexterity, dealing procedures, gaming equipment manipulation, and understanding of game rules and protection fundamentals. Because applied competencies are based on game complexity, they vary in quantity from game to game. Upon achieving mastery in a game, which includes a proficiency score of at least 4 on each applied competency, and at least 80% on each electronic assessment, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion for that specific game. Students are not required to achieve mastery in a game in a specific period since this course is competency-based. If a student has not achieved mastery in a game, s/he is encouraged to enroll in additional Casino Dealing Open Lab Instruction courses to receive further instruction. Scores earned on applied competencies and electronic assessments that are common among multiple games are transferable from game to game. Students have the option to apply their Certificates of Completion toward non-traditional education credit that can be used toward a Certificate of Achievement in Casino Management or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Casino Management at the College of Southern Nevada. Both credentials can be earned 100% online. Course Materials: It is recommended that students bring a notebook, folder, and writing utensils to class. Students will receive course materials upon registering for the course in an electronic format. Textbooks are optional and available for purchase in the CSN North Las Vegas Campus Bookstore.
