If you are currently seeking employment, thinking of a career change, or are interested in personal enrichment for better health, now is the time to join the rewarding field of Personal Training. Currently many gyms and fitness centers are seeking qualified Personal Trainers. What better time than now to enroll? This program is taught over an eight week period of time, one day a week to accommodate most work schedules. The courses will provide you with a thorough knowledge of the human body, assessment skills and expertise in creating fitness training programs in its entirety. This condensed program will prepare you to obtain your National Certification and put you on the fast track to becoming a National Certified Personal Fitness Trainer.  Direct all questions to DWED at 702.651.4059.

Weeks One and Two: Foundations of Health & Fitness
This course will cover the structure of the human body and how it relates to exercise science. Course covers client screening techniques, risk factor identification and complete health and fitness assessment. Students will learn about nutrition and appropriate eating plans. Course will cover the operation and set-up of exercise machinery use, facility safety, sports injury management and prevention, and gym etiquette. The goal is to prepare students to assess the needs of your future clients and to design appropriate fitness programs for them.

Weeks Three and Four: Program Development & Training Principles
This course focuses on smooth, cardiac and skeletal muscle physiology, while investigating the structure, function and cellular adaptations with exercise. Using scientific principles, students will create exercise programs ranging from beginning to advanced training development and implementation. Muscle development for aerobic and anaerobic concepts will be covered along with the behavior and performance guidelines necessary to achieve prescribed results. 

Weeks Five and Six: Facility Management & Marketing For A Fitness Trainer
This course will cover the daily activities and the legal guidelines of a fitness trainer. Students will develop proven techniques that teach adherence and motivational strategies. Learn techniques to create fitness training services and evaluate the success of its programs. This course will help students identify a career direction and develop their talents to successfully market
their services. 

Week 7: Review and Preparation for the National Certification Exam (cost of exam and material not included in course fee. National Certification Exam, material and resources costs $249.)

Week 8: National Exam


**Students will be required to complete a 25-hour internship during this course, and must obtain Adult CPR/AED certification. Internship will be discussed with instructor in class. Students may call registration at CSN Division of Workforce and Economic Development, (702) 651-4747 for information on the dates currently available for CPR classes.

Please read:  Schedule for gym: North Las Vegas Campus, at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. 5/26-6/30, 1 pm to 4 pm Exam date to be determined 2nd day of class to be held on a Saturday after class concludes at the CSN North Las Vegas campus. Materials, practice and the National Certification Exam costs $249. Once students register for the course, students will receive at the start of class an e-mail from NFPT welcoming them and the ability to register for the material and exam.
