Alexander Library ELA AM Class Information

The Adult Literacy & Language Program offers English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes for students whose goal is to gain confidence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English in addition to acquiring workplace skills. Class curriculum includes an on-line component. Please read the information below for a list of current class offerings at this location.
 
Class date: 10/18/2017 - 12/8/2017 
Class schedule: Wednesday, Thursday  and Friday
Class time: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM 
Term length: Approximately 7 weeks
 
Note: All students will participate in assessment testing to determine class assignment. A class assignment is not guaranteed. Advisors will assist students who do not qualify with other course options.
 
Class Name Class Description
Multilevel 1: Beginning/Low Intermediate
This class is designed to help students in reading and writing letters, numbers, common site words, signs, maps and menus. Students will learn how to fill out forms and write short simple notes and messages. Students will also practice speaking, listening, and workplace skills to handle routine entry-level jobs.

Multilevel 2: High Intermediate/Advanced
This class is designed to assist students in reading and filling out basic medical forms and job applications. Students will also be able to interpret simple charts, graphs, and labels; interpret a payroll stub; and complete a simple order form. Students will also practice oral communication and workplace skills.
 
How to make an appointment for the Registration/Assessment event

Follow these REQUIRED steps.

Click “Create New Profile” to create your own username, password and profile if new student.
Select “BROWSE
Select Adult Literacy & Language, find your class, then “add to cart”
Click the box: “Agree to refund policy”
Click CHECK OUT (at bottom on page)
Review your confirmation
NOTE: Student must have step 1 completed to attend the Registration/Assessment session.
 
  1. Attend the one day registration and assessment event.

Date:  Friday,October 6 , 2017
Time  8:30 AM 
 
  1. Attend the first day of class.
Location: 1755 W Alexander Rd, North Las Vegas 89032
Start date:  October 18 , 2017
End date:  December 8, 2017

Persons under 18 years of age must:
Bring an official withdrawal slip from Clark County School District the day of registration.
Be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian to be eligible for classes through this program.
 
Note: Spaces are limited and are on a first come basis. No Childcare Provided!
