City Impact Center ELA Class Information

The Adult Literacy & Language Program offers English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes (formerly referred to as English as a Second Language) for students whose goal is to gain confidence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English in addition to acquiring workplace skills. Class curriculum includes an on-line component. Please read the information below for a list of current class offerings at this location.
 
Class schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Class time:  6:00PM - 9:00PM
Term length: Approximately 7 weeks
 
Note: All students will participate in assessment testing to determine class assignment. A class assignment is not guaranteed. Advisors will assist students who do not qualify with other course options.
 
Class Name Class Description
Beginning
Course will focus on basic reading, writing, and speaking English skills. Classes will also complete a project based lesson, a Constitution lesson, and incorporate workplace skills and the College and Career Readiness Standard (CCRS).
 Intermediate
Classes will focus on conversational English speaking and listening skills as well as grammar and writing. Classes will also complete a project based lesson, a Constitution lesson, and incorporate workplace skills and the College and Career Readiness Standard (CCRS).

 
Advanced
Classes will focus on fluency and communication skills as well as more advanced grammatical concepts such as gerunds, modals, and independent & dependent clauses. Classes will also complete a project based lesson, a Constitution lesson, and incorporate workplace skills and the College and Career Readiness Standard (CCRS).
 
How to make an appointment for the Registration/Assessment event

Follow these REQUIRED steps.

Click “Create New Profile” to create your own username, password and profile if new student.
Select “BROWSE
Select Adult Literacy & Language, find your class, then “add to cart”
Click the box: “Agree to refund policy”
Click CHECK OUT (at bottom on page)
Review your confirmation
NOTE: Student must have step 1 completed to attend the Registration/Assessment session.

Persons under 18 years of age must:
Bring an official withdrawal slip from Clark County School District the day of registration.
Be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian to be eligible for classes through this program.
 
Note: Spaces are limited and are on a first come basis. No Childcare Provided!
